			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last month the first <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Muszaphar_Shukor#Spaceflight">Malaysian traveled to space</a>. This is significant not only because Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the orthopedic surgeon/lecturer/male model, is the first from Malaysia to orbit the earth, he is also the first Muslim to do so. In preparation for his trip <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheikh_Muszaphar_Shukor#Spaceflight_and_religion">a guidebook</a> was written, describing how to observe Muslim religious obligations while in space.</p>
<p>This has gotten some media attention in Singapore. The other day on the bus I caught a news segment about this event. The anchorwoman summed the story up something like this:</p>

<p>She promptly corrected herself, pronouncing it <a href="http://www.google.com.sg/search?q=define%3Aannals&#038;ie=utf-8&#038;oe=utf-8&#038;aq=t&#038;rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&#038;client=firefox-a">annals</a>.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not sure if anyone else on the bus caught it&#8230; I was definitely the only one laughing <img src='http://mmm.beachtemple.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
