Thunder, Crabs & AC

Yesterday we had a huge thunder storm. Living in calm quiet Calgary I have not experienced a storm of this caliber for as long as I can remember. It was awesome! Heavy downpour for hours, punctuated every couple minutes by flashes and loud thunder… too bad it was so overcast you couldn’t actually see the lightning across the sky. I managed to last through the storm, working the day away…

In the evening the thunder subsided and the rain petered out to a light shower. We decided not to cook but to head out for crab for dinner. We have three delicious crab places downstairs, 2 minutes away. One is extremely popular; people come from all over the city to eat there and the wait is usually long. I think that’s why the other two places are also doing well, catching those who don’t feel like waiting. We didn’t feel like waiting either last night, so we still haven’t tried the main attraction ;) Nevertheless, the crab, it’s really good… it’s delicious!

This morning we had another thunderstorm, but brief and much less intense.

Something I wanted to write earlier but keep forgetting: Singaporeans are serious about air conditioning. They bring jackets to work because it’s cold at the office. Twice getting out of a car and once getting off the train my glasses fogged up from the transition from cold to warm. Those who wear glasses outside on a winter day and then walk in the house know what I’m talkin’ about…
